The song’s inspiration comes from a very personal chapter. During the height of the COVID pandemic, Emma found herself living comfortably, working from home, and sharing her days with her partner. But things took an unexpected turn when he left for India to attend a family event. What was supposed to be temporary turned into 15 long months apart. When he finally returned, acting as if nothing had happened, Emma was left with feelings that words alone could barely contain. This story became the heart of Amnesia. Originally, the track was written as a Bollywood-inspired piece. That version caught attention, even landing in the top 30 of the Australian Songwriting Competition in 2024. But under the guidance of producer Robert Pippan—an ARIA nominee and a member of the South Australian Music Hall of Fame—the song transformed into something even more powerful. The new arrangement leans into trance and dance, giving the raw emotions a bigger, almost cinematic sound.

The pulsing beats and soaring production bring out the tension of the story, while Emma’s voice cuts through with both strength and vulnerability. It’s dance music with real emotion behind it, the kind of song that makes you move while also making you think. Amnesia is proof that Emma is not just following trends but creating music that leaves an impact.
