Unifying Rhythms: Aria’s ‘Smile’ Spans Continents and Genres

Robert Vendetta follows up this year’s first single “Vacation” with the ballad “Here and Now” due 29 August. It’s a beautiful song with great lyrics about living in the moment. “I can see it now; I have to make a change. It’s hard to face the truth, how I’ve wasted time working for a future life.” How about stopping for a bit, daring to be proud of what you have achieved and live in the moment? That’s what Robert Vendetta asks himself in this song.

The single starts as a simple piano ballad and ends up in a soul landscape Robert has visited before. He calls it plastic soul! The focus here is the lyrics, and it’s good – both deep and important! This time he worked closely with his band when arranging the song, only playing piano and singing himself. His band consists of Anders Jansvik on drums, Torunn Christelle on mellotron and Håvard Solli on bass. Anders, Torunn and the artists János provided backing vocals.

Robert says that “Here and Now” was a song he wrote after receiving good advice from a smart friend: “what about stopping looking ahead and living in the moment?” The song is influenced by Norwegian artist Jahn Teigen and Swedish artist Laleh alongside Gabrielle Cilmi. On the lyrical side, Leonard Cohen has been an important inspiration. He says: “This lyric had to be good!”
